What is Human Resilience ?
Human resilience describes the ability to get back on track after getting hit by life-changing situations. People with this ability bounce back even stronger after dealing with the hard times life has brought upon them. They tend to thrive and grow after learning the lessons from the situation they’ve just faced.
Challenge
Stressful circumstances can change human behavior during daily interactions and especially during a crisis. The chemical reactions taking place in the body are easily recognizable: we all know about shallow breath, rapid heat beat, fight or flight response. Mastering these reactions, however, can be a puzzle at times. When the instinctual brain is overpowering the frontal brain, the person may take actions that are not congruent with the expectations or even worse – can disserve the person and ultimately the business.
Opportunity
Understanding the mind body connections, practicing techniques to support and manage effectively stress responses enhance individual overall performance in critical moments and ultimately the teams’ resilience in a crisis.
